In your daily routine of picking up and delivering freight, you must be prepared. What do I mean by this? It’s called trip planning. You have to sit down before every load and plan out your trip. You must determine your fuel stops, hours of service availability, pick up times and delivery times. Unless you do this, you’ll make mistakes. The Knockout Punch

Muhammad Ali is one of the world’s greatest fighters. He has won 56 fights (with 37 of those wins by knockout). Another great fighter is Floyd Mayweather, Jr. By the way, Mayweather comes from my home town. Like Ali, he has won many fights (many by knockout). But I want to talk about another fight it seems a lot of us are losing. It’s pornography. I know this is a touchy subject. However, if we think we’re going to win this fight, we have to hit it head on with a strategy that will work. Now I would not only like for us to win this fight, but do so with a knockout punch! Pornography is a Downward Spiral

Driver, have you looked at porn? Many claim that porn is victimless and is a freedom of choice issue. However, lives have been ruined because of it; both by those who use it and those who create it. Porn is a progressive addiction; what satisfied yesterday, is not good enough today. Many, who would never visit a prostitute, have done so because of their porn addiction. Not only will you lose money, but you can lose your life if you get a sexually transmitted disease from the encounter.
The word pornography comes from the Greek language and means “a written or illustrated description of prostitutes or prostitution.” Nudie pictures are based on a fantasy designed solely to get your money. The images are not even real. However, it creates unrealistic expectations within a marriage. A man begins to expect things from his wife that she cannot not do. The irony is that people use porn because they want sexual intimacy, but they end up frustrated and separated from normal healthy relationships because of these “side effects”. Porn is Addictive

The word addiction means “to be dependent upon” or “to be held in bondage to.” Our society very clearly identifies drugs and alcohol as potentially addictive substances. I think there is one even more powerful - pornography. Some of the symptoms of this addiction are watching pay-per-view sex movies, purchasing pornographic material either on the web or in stores, frequenting nude dancing establishments and calling 900 numbers. A Random Addiction Test

Addictions come in many different styles. In the trucking industry, the obvious ones are drugs and alcohol for which there are random monthly tests for. What about pornography? Here’s a random test for you. Do you find your wife less sexually satisfying than you used to? Do you lock your eyes on attractive women and check them out? Do you seek out arousing pictures or R or X rated movies? Do you visit porn sites on the internet? Do you have a secret sex stash you can’t revel to others? If so, you might be addicted. Small Indulgences Can Lead to Big Problems

Small indulgences don’t seem to be very harmless on the surface, but they can become huge problems. Nude pictures here, a porn picture there, a girl here, a girl there, a billboard here, a billboard there, get the idea? Guard Your Thoughts

Truck drivers spend a lot of time in driver’s seat and consequently have a lot of time to think. What do you ponder about as you drive the seemingly endless highways day in and day out? Do you constantly look down at the 4 wheelers to see who is sitting in the seat and if you can see anything sexy? What kind of music is playing on your radio? Is that healthy for your mind? Ever hear of this saying “Thoughts become actions, actions create habits, habits build character?” Your character reveals who you are to those around you. Someone’s Daughter

We’ve all had long days when we drive late into the night until we stop at a truck stop to get something to eat. After finally sitting down in the restaurant, a smiling waitress comes over to take your order and you think she is the best looking thing you’ve seen all day. Suddenly your mind is running rampant with sexual thoughts towards this young lady. Stop right there! This is someone’s daughter. Personally, I have three of them and wouldn’t want anyone thinking about my daughters that way. Maybe you have daughters or granddaughters too. Guard Your Eyes

I often see trucks with a little sticker on the window bearing a green lizard and a red anti symbol over it. This sticker is in effect saying “No” to lot lizards (prostitutes who hang out at the truck stop or terminal soliciting). To each and every one of you who has taken this stand, I applaud you! You are in essence telling a prostitute not to enter your truck because you do not want their business. Do you take the same stand with how you use your eyes? Do you look at the magazines behind the counter? Do you look for short skirts or no shirts in the passing vehicles below while driving? Do you sneak a peek down the waitress’ blouse? What do you allow to enter your eyes? In order to overcome the problem of pornography, you need to guard your eyes every second of every day the same way you do your truck. The Gentlemen’s Club?

As I travel up and down the highways, I can’t help but see billboards that advertise sexual entertainment. I don’t think these billboards are designed to attract the family on their annual vacation. The locations they are advertising all have truck parking. Now there are many different names for this kind of entertainment, but my “favorite” is “The Gentlemen’s Club” (as if gentlemen are the only ones that are allowed to go in). Whether you’re single or married, these types of establishments are not good for you. No matter what they call it, the product they offer is devastating to your well being.
